Another notch in the belt.

My waist is shrinking! Put my jeans on this morning and had to cinch up the belt because they were falling down. Its almost time to get some new ones! That's always fun.
Gardening is exhausting, I put in my asparagus bed and holy cow, thats a lot of work! It's a good thing that you dont have to plant it every year! This will be my first "real" garden and it has been a learning experience. Hopefully the first year is the hardest.
I pulled a tendon in my foot about a week ago, I always hate injuries like that because its not just "falling off the wagon" its like someone shoving you off. It makes it so much harder to find the motivation to get your ass off the couch and do something. Very frustrating. I haven't quite figured that one out yet. Believe me, I will let you in on it when I do! So I am admitting the only source of exercise for me has been the gardening. Which is fine, I don't think of it as exercise at all, it's more of something that has to be done. So my foot doesn't stop me if I think like that!
And lastly, the thing that makes me giddy, I finally got my mountain bike! After months of scouring Craigslist I came across a Cannondale M900 with the CAD3 frame, the same aluminum frame as my roadbike! It is strange, as rare as these things are, I have TWO of them! Giddy, I tell you!

Hello Garden!

Started the garden today-not even done clearing the sod and my body hurts! I still have so much to do. It will be worth it though, there is nothing like a homegrown, fresh off the vine tomato! An added bonus? I get a hellofa workout!

Do Do Do Do Just Dance

I got my own copy of Just Dance for the Wii, it is way fun and gets me sweating. The best part? I dont want to stop! There is a lot of great songs to dance to, and you score points, so of course you want to do it again and get a better score! It has been colder here and too uncomfortable for a bike ride. I made an attempt the other day and i swore my ears were going to fall off. My new game is great since I have been stuck inside for the last couple days.
I have been doing very well with my eating habits! Late nights used to be hell for me, I would get bored or couldnt fall asleep and I would get a craving for something. But now when that happens my brain automatically squashes that thought. I have gotten to the point where I realize that a binge isnt going to do any good, I have a weigh in I have to think about! Besides, I would have to work twice as hard to get rid of all that food. So isnt it easier to just not do it?

OUCH!

I dont know why, but my ab muscles are on fire today! I felt kind of a strain today during yoga when I went from plank to cobra. I think thats why they are so sore! I am disappointed because my new pilates video came in the mail today and I was looking forward to giving that a go. I havent done pilates since high school! It is going to kick my butt... Mr. Hollingsworth would be proud!

I'm back in the saddle again!



Today was gorgeous! I rode my bike for the first time in Iowa City since moving here in September. Coralville's trail system was fantastic, but I cant get over how well done Iowa City's is. I logged 8 miles before I knew it! Hoping I will sleep like a baby tonight so I can get up and ride again tomorrow!

Web Md has some really great health information. I really like this page in particular. I am not a fan of "the diet". Anything that deprives you of certain foods is setting you up for failure. You will fail every single time. What you can do, however, is willingly not choose certain foods. That takes time, you cant just set a date and make a bunch of changes all at once. You will fail. Play around with this website, put in certain foods you eat everyday and watch your nutritional summary. Your calorie percentages should be: Carbs 45-65% Protein 10-35% Fat 20-35%. Very interesting! There is a lot of other cool stuff on Web Md, its worth a look!
